We’re two weeks out from the opening of HHN 2014 at USH so time to tweet my annual tips for the best way to experience the event…

These tips are based on 9 years of experince and are only offered to our followers on Twitter so HEED MY TIPS! They work! Thanks to our amazing fans, HHN has become a very popular event that often sells out, some nights we don’t even open the ticket booths so…
- TIP #1 Buy your tickets online as soon as you can. The best prices are offered early and some times they go up mid run…
- TIP #2 ARRIVE EARLY…lets face it, we live in LA…traffic sucks and Los Angelinos never arrive on time for anything…same is true for HHN. This is particularly true for Friday nights…so you want to arrive early…there is also another bonus for doing this…EARLY ENTRY TO HHN! We don’t advertise this much but…almost every night of the event we let people in early. Event starts at 7 but we often let people in 6:30. For EARLY ENTRY, we usually let people go down to the Metro Sets mazes or get in line for Terror Tram…look for announcements at main gate. The benefit to this is you get a jump start on the event, we’ll open the mazes down there at 6:45ish…there are 3 mazes in Metro this year
- TIP #3 NAVIGATING THE PARK….this is probably one of the best keep secrets of theme parks. Go to the futhest point and work backwards…People tend to navigate a theme park in a linear fashion, they get in line for the first thing they see…you should do the opposite…I would recoomend that you hit Metro Sets (backlot) first or Terror Tram and do the park in reverse. Particularly with Early Entry…
- TIP #4 LOOK OUT FOR SCARE PATROL – everyone hates lines in theme parks so we created SCARE PATROL last year to add some fun to it…Doing a lot more with SCARE PATROL this year, particularly with various give-a-ways for the fans of HHN. All kinds of different goodies…All year long I’ve been beg, borrowing and some times stealing various goodies that I could give to SCARE PATROL to give to you…I’ve also armed SCARE PATROL with hundreds of Horror Movie trivia questions to ask you…so bone up on horror trivia…you could win a prizeWe’ve amassed a lot of cool items to give away, free movie tickets, Horror movie hats and t-shirts…other collectibles…its pretty cool. SCARE PATROL are the employees in the orange shirts that say…um…Scare Patrol. They work the various queue lines for the mazes.
Now for some INSIDER HHN TRADITIONS that a lot of people don’t know about but have been part of the event for years…

Every night we kick of the event with an OPENING SCARE-A-MONY at the front of the park by the fire towers…its fun to watch…Its hard to describe…it reminds me of a battle scene in Braveheart…only with chainsaws. That starts right before park open…We tend to let people into the park early and do a rope drop at the end of the OPENING SCARE-A-MONY to check that out…fun, fun, fun!

We also end the night with something called CHAINSAW CHASE OUT. It takes place near the exit of the park…with all our chainsaw performers. We basically line the street with them & direct them to act like Buckingham Palace guards…until the leader gives the signal….then chaos! There’s no way to get around CHAINSAW CHASE OUT…only 1 way out of the park. Its incredibly fun to watch. Begins right before park close.

And lastly, there is the TWITTER NIGHTLY PASSWORD. This is something I started with Eli Roth on Hostel, done it every year since…Right before each night of the event, I tweet a password. If you give the password to a specific character, you might get something back…Each year we pick a maze to feature for the TWITTER PASSWORD, this year that maze is FROM DUSK TILL DAWN…Out in front of FROM DUSK TILL DAWN are 3 characters…RICHIE AND SETH GECKO and THE DOORMAN for The Twister nightclub…THE GECKO BROTHERS have just robbed a bank and like all brothers, are in a heated argument…you can interupt that with the Twitter password. It may summon the voice of SANTANICO and cause RICHIE GECKO to go into a trance…or he might give you a peak inside his secret notebook! If you give the TWITTER PASSWORD to THE DOORMAN, you might get something special from SANTANICO…
