HHNH 2014: More Info on “From Dusk ‘Till Dawn” (Updating)

The Setting
After a botched bank heist in Texas leaves a trail of dead bodies, career criminals THE GECKO BROTHERS make a break for the Mexican border. They plan to rendevous with brutal crime lord CARLOS MADRIGAL at his nightclub THE TWISTER. But when the Gecko Brothers cross the border and rendezvous with Carlos at his nightclub…things go from bad to worse!

Step inside THE TWISTER, an exotic nightclub that conceals a terrifying secret. The star attraction is dancer SANTANICO PANDEMONIUM. What the Gecko Brothers don’t know is that Santanico, Carlos and the shady denizens of the nightclub are actually “CULEBRAS:” snake-like vampires that have existed for centuries; and the club sits on top of an ancient temple containing a labyrinth of horrors!

You’ll find The Twister at the place where the dead roads meet. It’s open…FROM DUSK TILL DAWN!

Background
In 1996, ROBERT RODRIGUEZ and QUENTIN TARANTINO created the genre defying film FROM DUSK TILL DAWN…which became an instant cult classic! This past year, ROBERT RODRIGUEZ expanded the original film FROM DUSK TILL DAWN into an excellent TV series on his new network EL REY.

I’ve been trying to hook up with Robert for the last 3 years but the guy is extremely busy being the hands on filmmaker he is. Big HHN shout out and special thanks to our good friend @WValderrama for championing the cause of bringing @DuskElRey to HNN! Also want to thank our good friend Greg Nicotero (make up artist for Walking Dead and FDTD) for helping me put togther this deal! I’ve had the good fortune to meet so many people in the film industry through HHN & our friends Wilmer & Greg really helped make this happen. A lot of times when we’re making deals, the properties we’re chasing are in production so we have to make a leap of faith before seeing it. I made this leap of faith on the recommendation of Wilmer and Greg and they were SOOOO RIGHT ON! This show is perfect for HHN!!!! And I would be remiss if I didn’t thank the great QUENTIN TARANTINO for letting us bring his iconic characters in FDTD to life for HHN!

I think Robert’s take on MesoAmerican mythology in FDTD is amazing, the Culebras, The Baki, The Chanan…all will be featured in the maze. If you haven’t seen @DuskElRey yet, CHECK IT OUT!!! Its a great show, great cast, great production value…its an honor to bring it to HHN.

The Characters
Speaking of From Dusk Till Dawn characters, HHN auditions start tomorrow so I need to do some recruting for specific roles @USHAuditions

SETH & RICHIE GECKO will be featured in the maze, right before you go inside THE TWISTER. These are speaking roles, need ACTORS to play them.

You will also encounter THE DOORMAN before you enter THE TWISTER, another speaking role…3 actors outside the maze before you ever go in!

And of course once you enter THE TWISTER, you will encounter the enchanting SANTANICO PANDEMONIUM doing her snake dance! DANCERS! I need you

Its not too late to sign up for HHN Auditions. Follow @USHAuditions Be Santanico, The Geckos, etc Here’s the link http://www.universalstudioshollywood.com/auditions/audition-calendar/

The Password Game Returns
And now some HHN INSIDE SCOOP for the uber fans who are into maze code names and all the behind the scenes details of the event. From Dusk Till Dawn had no code name (SHOCK!). It was the project I refered to early as THE SUPER SECRET PROJECT (ironically named now LOL). The maze will be located on the Universal Backlot…it also will be the maze this year to feature the HHN TWITTER NIGHTLY PASSWORD: Each night of the event I will tweet a password for FDTD, if you give the password to The Gecko Brothers…you might get something in return! In the past few years, we’ve featured mazes on mythical characters like La Llorona and El Cucuy…this year FDTD fills that slot.

So that’s it for today’s announcement…you might get another maze announcement sooner than you think. How soon? Soon. Stay tuned….
