An unofficial website dedicated to Halloween Horror Nights events held at Universal Studios theme parks around the world.

On This Date: “Hostel” Opened in US Theaters (01/06/2006)

“Hostel: Hunting Season,” Universal Studios Hollywood, 2011.

On this date in 2006, Eli Roth’s “Hostel” opened in US theaters.  The film focused on three young backpackers exploring Europe.  As they search for a legendary hostel, the trio are abducted by Elite Hunting: a sinister organization that provides victims for their wealthy clientele to torture and murder.

“Hostel” was a hit at the box-office and eventually spawned two sequels, “Hostel: Part II” (2007) and the straight-to-video “Hostel: Part III” (2011).  The franchise also resulted in a 2011 house at Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights event.

In the photo above, lovely ladies guard the entrance to Elite Hunting’s facility in “Hostel: Hunting Season.”  In a fun gesture to the event’s most-hardcore fans, HHN Hollywood’s Creative Director, John Murdy, occasionally tweeted a special secret word or phrase.  Upon hearing the password, the Elite Hunting ladies gave out special, limited-edition Elite Hunting business cards.
