“20 Years of Fear” Scarezone, Universal Studios Florida, 2010.
On this date in 1999, ‘Hush,’ an episode of the popular television show “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” premieres on U.S. television. The episode featured villains called “The Gentlemen:” dapper skull-faced ghouls that stole peoples voices before brutally cutting out their hearts (source).
The Gentlemen featured an iconic and memorable presence that proved perfect inspiration for a Halloween Horror Nights haunted house. The creatures made their first appearance in 2005’s “Body Collectors,” popped up briefly in 2006’s “Horror Comes Home” scarezone, and followed up by starring roles in 2008’s “Body Collectors: Collections of the Past” and “Streets of Blood” scarezone. The Collectors made their most recent appearance in the “20 Years of Fear” scarezone at Halloween Horror Nights XX, as seen above.
